Had our Kenitco softener and drinking water system installed about 14 years ago. The water faucet for drinking water was loosing pressure.

I would get about one half a cup when it would stop. We went on-line and found it needed more air pressure, so we removed the three gal. tank and opened it up to pump air in the bottom of the bladder. When opening the bladder to empty the water, to pump in air I noticed it was very slimy inside.

Called the dealer and they did not know why it was slimy. They wanted to send someone out, but what good would he do, just tell us it needed replacing and charge us a house call on top of trying to sell us a better system I'm sure. Decided not to replace as it was far too expensive, purchasing bottled water for about $40.00 a year is much cheaper. The filters alone are over one hundred dollars.

Just not worth it. We also use almost as much salt as we did our Sears softener. The equipment is extremely loud when it softens the water. We have to close the basement door to hear the TV.

Found out the systems are almost doubled in price now, it's just not worth it.

If I had to do it all over I'd stick with the Sears softener.

Reason of review: Do not care for this product! They could not answer why bladder was slimy..

Monetary Loss: $900.

Preferred solution: Not to replace the product! Purchasing bottled water for future use. .

Kinetico Pros: It softenes the water fine.

Kinetico Cons: Price.

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
